Questions people ask us

Answered by John, in his own words. Tap a question to open it.

What kind of business is this?

“We help people save money on services they already pay for, such as energy, broadband and SIMs. We also help other people do the same, giving them the opportunity to build an additional income alongside what they already do.”

What would I actually do?

“You’d speak to people about their household bills, help them explore whether switching to Utility Warehouse suits them, and earn commission when they become qualifying customers. That involves starting conversations, arranging appointments and following up. If you enjoy it, you can also help others get started and build a team.”

What does it cost to get started?

“There’s currently a £10 joining fee, then a £3 monthly fee from your fourth month for ongoing training, tools and support. The £10 is risk free, as it’s fully refundable within the first 30 days if you find it’s not for you, and it covers everything you need to get started: training, website links and a professional email address. You’ll also need to allow for any business expenses, such as travel or optional events. I’ll explain the costs and terms before you decide, so you know what you’re committing to.”

Is it a pyramid scheme?

“No. This is a Utility Warehouse partner business, with earnings linked to qualifying customer business involving real household services, rather than simply recruiting people. I’m happy to show you the payment plan, explain the costs and answer your questions so you can make an informed decision.”

Is this MLM?

“Yes, it’s what’s called network marketing. Utility Warehouse doesn’t advertise much. Instead, Partners like me recommend its services to people they know, and we’re paid commission when they become customers. If you choose to help others start their own business, you can also earn from the customers your team brings in. You don’t buy stock and you don’t have to sell products. Everyone’s pay comes from real customers using real household services, not from people joining. I know MLM has a bad name, and plenty of it is earned, so ask me anything. I’d rather you decided with all the facts.”

Can I build this around my job and family?

“Yes. You can start alongside your existing commitments and choose when to make time for it. We’d look at your week together and find a manageable routine. You’ll need to give it regular attention, but you can start small and build from there.”

More questions (12) ›
What could extra income make possible for me?

“That depends on what matters to you. It could be a family holiday, more breathing room each month or saving towards something special. For me, having more choice over my time and being there for my family were big motivations. Tell me what you’d like to achieve, and we can explore what working towards it could involve.”

Can I start with no experience and just a few hours a week?

“Yes. I was a teacher before this, so I understand starting something new. With training, support from me and the wider team, and a routine that fits your available time, you can learn as you go. Your progress will depend on your activity and results.”

I’m not a salesperson. Would that be a problem?

“You don’t need a pushy pitch or the gift of the gab. You’ll learn to listen, explain the services and help people decide whether switching makes sense. You will be offering services and asking whether people are interested, but pressure isn’t the approach.”

I don’t know many people. Where would I find customers?

“You don’t need a phone full of contacts, but you do need to be willing to make connections. We can explore referrals, introductions, networking and other ways to meet people beyond your existing circle. Finding customers is part of the work, and we’ll help you learn how.”

How would you help me get my first customer?

“We’d help you identify who to speak to, practise the conversation and arrange your first appointment. I or another experienced team member can support you through those early appointments, so you can learn and build confidence with someone alongside you.”

What support would I get from John and the team?

“We’d start with what you want to achieve and work out your first steps together. I can help you practise conversations, prepare for appointments and find answers when you’re unsure. You’ll also have access to training and a team to learn from, ask questions and celebrate progress with.”

Can I earn while I learn?

“Yes. Once you’ve completed the introductory training, you can start helping customers while continuing to learn. You don’t have to know every answer before you begin. I’ll help you prepare for those first conversations and appointments, with earnings based on the qualifying business you bring in.”

How does the income work, and what could I realistically earn?

“You can earn commission for bringing in qualifying customers, plus ongoing income linked to their bills under the payment plan. There are also opportunities to earn through supporting a team. What you earn varies with your results, so there’s no guaranteed amount. We can walk through the current figures together, including the work, costs and time involved.”

What is residual income, and how could it grow?

“It’s ongoing commission linked to customers’ bills, subject to the payment plan’s conditions. As you build your customer base and, if you choose, an active team, that income can grow over time. It usually starts small and can fluctuate as customers leave or change services.”

Could I build my own team, and who would help me support them?

“Yes, and you’d have me and the wider team helping with opportunity conversations, getting people started and training. You don’t need to know every answer yourself. As your team helps more customers, you could also earn from their qualifying customer business under the payment plan.”

What’s the social side like?

“There are opportunities to meet people through team catch-ups, training and events. For me, having people around you who understand what you’re working towards is a big part of it. You can share ideas, build friendships and enjoy each other’s achievements as you go.”

Could this help me work towards more time with my family?

“That was a big motivation for me, and it could be a goal for you too. You can build around your existing commitments, with support along the way. It takes time and effort, but as your earnings develop, you can assess whether reducing other work commitments would suit your household.”
